Hamburg, D. A. (1992). Today's children: Creating a future for a generation in crisis. New York: Times Books.
The book revolves around the challenges that today’s children and families face as a result of the society and this is the major problem that the book tries to give solutions for. He argues that the changes in technology has led decline in the number of extended families, increase in the reports of divorce and single parenthood leading to neglect of children because parenting has become complex and difficult. It is important for health care administrators because it helps them to build a collaborative relation with the government and other stakeholders.
The main research question asks; what are the challenges and solutions facing today’s children and families? The hypothesis is that family is a crucible for a healthy child development. The independent variable was healthy child development and the dependent variable was stable family. The reports were used as a framework to guide the study for it gave the study team a clear information on the current status of families and the children’s health status. Cross sectional study design was used to conduct the study. 50 subjects were used and they were employees working for Carnegie Corporation of New York therefore, the organization used was Carnegie Corporation. The study took approximately one week until all the reports were compiled.
Poverty, diseases, divorce and violence as well as substance abuse. This article also reflects the fact that many children were raised in from children homes because of the challenges they faced at home. This therefore calls for the general children care at children homes where they are raised up without violence and other things .The children are subject to mental torture which results from issues like domestic violence and substance abuse by their parents. The children were therefore taken to rehabilitation centers
