During the class observation we get important information relating to the methods of evaluation in the chosen school. On this basis it is important to formulate conclusions in order to understand whether the applied strategies are effective.
Speaking about the specific strategies used by Mrs. Lena it is important to mention the strategy of comparison was applied by presenting of the Venn diagram. Such strategy was combined with the visual presentation that simplified the perception of the student. This method develops critical thinking of the students, so the outcomes are really positive. I was also impressed by the system of promotion the great level of obey and politeness. Such result was achieved through developed behavior strategy. The simple rules written on the board strengthen by the commonly used signs make student to remember them and to apply easily. The effectiveness of this strategy was evident being reflected in the behavior of students during the observation.
The visual presentation of information was another reason for such successful managing of the class. The teacher used the well-known psychological effect of better perception of information that is visually presented.
Also the strategy of appraisal which provides prompts for early readers and the highest level of the time-management are the main components of such successful performance. At the same time there are some recommendations I should propose in order to improve the applied strategy. I think that it would be good idea to ask students to write their own copies of the Venn diagram and use them like pocket notes in order to memorize the rules and revise it when it is possible.
Furthermore everyone may use sticky notes to create a kind of the collective poster reflecting the motto and rules to be followed by every student. It will strengthen the vision of the unity and enhance cooperation between teacher and students. Although the social environment of the class proved to be highly developed it would be useful to increase the number of social activities by the way of implementation of the playing aspects for a few minutes during the class to simplify the perception of information.
As the result of my observation the contact with Mrs. Kate was established and we agreed to cooperate in future sharing the ideas concerning the educational process. I also increase my knowledge about the process of evaluation in schools focusing on analysis of two basic approaches such as summative and formative. Some strategies used during the class such as visualization, contrasting and comparing technique, system of following rules and behavior improving approach proved to be really efficient. Some recommendations were made in order to improve the class performance, the proposed amendments are slight and can be easily implemented.
