The political party chosen for the case has been named “social democratic workers party of America.” this name has been chosen because it associates with the key strong points of our manifesto and objectives as is the key requirements in many political parties (Shefter, 1993). These include social justice, economic growth, equality, opposition to racism, campaigning for workers rights, and concern for the elderly most notably the “baby boomers.”
Create a symbol for your political party and explain why you have chosen that symbol.
The symbol for the party above will be a Green rose. A green rose has been chosen because this flowers color represents harmony, opulence, and fertility. The green rose also represents peace and tranquility that is necessary considering the increased threats terrorists pose on our nation.
Create a slogan for your political party and justify why you have chosen that slogan.
“Good is far from the best” this is the slogan chosen for the political party. The reason for choosing this slogan is that many political parties claim to have good policies on key sectors of the economy but the results is mainly disastrous. Thus, this slogan shows that the party has the best policies around that will help to empower all citizens of the nation regardless of age, gender, religion, or occupation.
Develop a platform for your political party.
The social democratic workers party is a broad based political party. The party believes in social democracy or democratic socialism. To achieve this the party believes that progressive taxation is the best way of taxing citizens to improve equity while at the same time being able to support the provision of social welfare, a huge consumer of government spending in many countries across the world. The party believes in the existence of a market economy where private capital owners are well regulated and guided to ensure that they do not deny the existing labor force any form of employment opportunities for any reason (Boer, 2004).
Thus, the party believes in building strong institutions that will see that this is achieved. The government’s role in the economy is not overlooked especially in supporting research and development, undertaking or collaborating in expensive infrastructural projects as well as provision of government-based services. A short summary of our key platform areas is given below.
a. Social Issues
Among the party’s key social areas of concern include health, education& skills, and Justice & crime. In terms of health our policy is putting “patients first”. This implies that whichever policy we adopt on healthcare related issues our focus will be based on the benefits realized by the patients. Thus, whether it is medication, research, insurance or any other issue we shall support those policies that will lead to the maximum gains befalling on the patients.
With respect to education &skills, we intend to promote the no child left behind act as well as introduce other policies to improve our education system in order to ensure all available skills within the labor force are put to the right use. Thus, there will be the introduction of facilities and services in all states that will assist the state governments and the federal government in identifying and tapping the skills available.
With respect to Justice & crime, the party plans to expand the knowledge base of available personnel in order to improve the delivery of justice. This will be all-rounded and there will be no discrimination with regard to gender, race, religion, or any other factor. In combating crime the party will seek the people’s approval to seek more funds in order to increase the budget for policing so that we can establish community policing centers that will assist in early identification of social injustices that may lead to crimes and addressing them as soon as possible.
b. Domestic Issues
Domestic issues that the party will seek to put an emphasis on include growth of national economy, improving domestic security, introducing fair pensions & benefits, and building strong community ties. The party will be in the forefront of promoting the provision of incentives, and fair and equitable services that will form a perfect base for the sustained growth of the national economy.
The improvement of domestic security will be another key area of concern because without increased domestic security the cost of insurance may rise because of speculative fears among members of the business community. If this was to happen then it will be difficult to realize sustained economic growth. Fair pensions and benefits are crucial in order to reduce the government’s spending on welfare schemes or projects.
c. Foreign Policy
The party will seek an expansive and accommodative foreign policy grounded on diplomacy. This will assist the government to deal with the issue of global terrorism, which is a major threat to all countries. The party will seek to empower weaker states in strategic regions of the world in order to be able to counter terrorism rather easily. The party will seek to end Muslim and Islamic radicalism through dialogue and through social, economic and technological assistance where necessary.
In the wake of increasing climatic change and the emergence of drastic weather patterns, the party will seek to assist manufacturers in introducing green energy. This will help in reducing CO2 emissions a critical component in depleting the ozone. The party will also seek ways of reducing environmental pollution by giving incentives and or subsidies to farmers, manufacturers, and other parties who introduce better waste management policies.
Design of a brochure/ flyer for social democratic workers party for introducing and explaining the party.
demographic projection of social democratic and workers party
The “social democratic workers party” is a broad-based political party. This means that the party will not seek to woo voters from specific demographic groups to be the main voters. Instead, our policies are broad and touch on the needs of every citizen because we intend to sell our policies to all and sundry. We intend to create a system that allows every eligible voter to be attracted to at least one of our core missions. This will help us to win the hearts of the majority of the voters within the country.
Prediction of regional analysis of voters for social democratic and workers party and its justification
Given our manifesto and the policies, we will introduce during our campaign rallies we hope to woo voters from all regions. This is because our policies are region-specific. This means that in all voter regions we will identify the needs of the people and introduce strategies and policies that will assist the residents of these areas to benefit from such programs. This is taken from a case study of the liberal democrats in Britain who tried the same mode. (“Liberal democrats: the real alternative”, 2007)
For instance, where we see that crime or infrastructure is the key challenge we will introduce programs and allocate funds to deal with these issues first in order to ensure that the people of these regions have improved security or infrastructure. By doing this, we hope that we shall win the hearts of voters from all regions of the country without using different ideologies.
Compare the areas of support with those of other political parties.
As a party that seeks to promote justice, equality, national growth and protection of workers right, the social democratic workers party has a key advantage over other political parties whose main differences are ideological rather than practical. We as a party seek to assist all members of society as compared to our competitors who target different groups within the society. For instance, there are those who support manufacturers and forget about the consumers among other divisions (Hill, 2013).
Additionally issues of religion and the increasing debate on same sex unions do not form a key element of our campaign agenda as compared to other political parties who take one stance or the other. Concerning this issue, the party preferred that the issue to be dealt with by county governments that will hear and decide what the people want in their respective governments.
What main idea or belief is your political party based upon? Why?
Social democratic workers party believes that for businesses to grow and for people to go on their business peacefully it is necessary that they be assured that they are safe, their homes are secure, and that their businesses are protected (Epstein, 1980). Thus, the improvement of national security against both internal and external aggressors will be one of the first priorities for the party. We still believe in diplomacy and dialogue but we will not hesitate to undertake pre-emptive strikes where the threat to national security is at stake whether internal or external. Second, the improvement of the national economy in order to boost employment will be second in line.
