Alain-Yves Huc. “Heavy Crude Oils: From Geology to Upgrading - An Overview”U.S.A: Editions TECHNIP, 2010. print.
Alain-Yves Huc wrote this source. He wrote this book in order to bring to light some of the countries where crude oil is obtained. In his book, he defines Crude oil as the raw oil which has been taken directly from the ground. It is the oil that has not yet been processed and refined. According to Alain-Yves Huc, crude oil is made from decaying plant matter which has been under pressure inside the Earth’s crust for a long period of time. He further asserts that crude oil is used to make different products like gasoline, fuel, jet fuel and kerosene among others. Kerosene is used by different people to light their chimney. Diesel is used by the passenger vehicles to provide energy necessary for driving the vehicle. He also emphasized on the importance of crude oil in manufacturing different types of fertilizers and pesticides. Fertilizers are important because they provide nutrients necessary for sustaining growth of plants and ensuring high yield. Pesticides help in fighting different types of pests. The crude oil is also used in the manufacture of different types of perfumes which are consumed by human beings. Alain-Yves Huc also points out the importance of crude oil in providing different types of lubrications which are used to clean engines in factories. According to the author, crude oil is produced in different countries such as United States of America, Nigeria and in most countries in the Middle East like Iraq and Iran. The source is the best for answering this question because it provide detailed information about crude oil and where it is produced.
Consumer energy report. “Where is oil produced” accessed on 30th Jan 2012 from http://www.energytrendsinsider.com/research/crude-oil/where-oil-is-produced/ .
The journal show that crude oil is produced in U.S. and other countries such as Saudi Arabia the study shows that the first oil was drilled in Pennsylvania in the year 1859. The crude oil produced during that time expanded to supply lubricants and kerosene which was used in lamps to replace oil. The crude oil can also be refined to meet the demands for fuels and products by a rapidly industrialising the country. Today, the top crude oil producing areas in U.S include Texas which produce 21% of the crude oil, Alaska producing about 15% California producing about 12% and Oklahoma which produce about 3% of the crude oil produced in U.S among others. The journal also talks about the (OPEC) which stands for organization of the petroleum exporting countries. The journal tells us that the organization was created at the Baghdad conference on September 10-14, 1960. According to the journal, countries that formed the organization include Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. These countries produce a significant portion of oil globally. This electronic source can be trusted to give the right information since it gives detailed information about regions producing crude oil.

The journal describes the formation of the petroleum exporting countries. The paper further states the countries that make up the (OPEC). They include Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. The journal further looks at the objective of the “OPEC’S” which is to coordinate and unify petroleum policies among member countries. According to the journal, the formation of OPEC occurred at a time of transition in the international economic and political landscape, with decolonisation and the birth of many new independent states in the developing world. In the year 1970s, OPEC rose to international recognition. Its member countries took control of their domestic petroleum industries and acquired a major say in terms of pricing crude oil in the international markets. In 1980s, the oil prices began to weaken and eventually crashed in 1986. However, according to the journal, an innovative OPEC oil price band mechanism aid in the strengthening and stabilising crude oil prices. The journal point out that oil was extensively used as an asset class
