The applicant in the interview was able to answer the questions in a confident manner and had objective thinking. His capabilities were further displayed when asked about managing night shift. Night shifts are difficult and they must be handled efficiently in order to ensure proper completion of the project. The applicant was able to assure that he will be able to handle any untoward incidents in the night shift and the credibility was further added by the fact that the applicant has previous knowledge about handling overnight shifts.
Project completion and night shift competency: The workforce of the company is responsible for completion of projects, thus when they fail to turn up or are faced with other personal liabilities, the supervisor has to be competent enough to work out things that are beneficial to both, this skill of the applicant was displayed when he suggested a mid-road that would benefit the company as well as the laborer, ensuring growth of the company.
Handling workforce and resolving issues: Laborers tend to get into heated arguments at such a time a level-headed approach is necessary. The applicant displayed signs of a smart worker by his narration of the incident where he was able to find an acceptable solution. His comprehensive thinking was displayed when he inducted both the employees to another line of work, thus resolving the issue. His response, “after a heated conflict between the two, the issue was solved by reconciling them and relocating each to a new line of work that they were equally experienced,” shows his capabilities at handling conflicts at workplace.
As an employer, we make a lot of time and money investment, thus choosing a right candidate who is apt for the position is important. A smart and educated employee who is a go-getter and is result oriented is important for the post of Supervisor. The said applicant has all the required skills and attributes and is thus fit for the job.
