Introduction Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programme (SNAP) is an anti-hunger program whose costs administration is shared between the Federal and state governments. In 2015, the program benefitted more than 45 million people across America. Abstract The Supplemental Nutrition Program Women, Infants, and Children provides healthy foods, nutritional education and certain referral services to low-income pregnant and post-partum women, infants, and children up to age five. Groundbreaking modifications in 2009 added cash vouchers for fruits and vegetables to WIC’s approved foods list. While these vouchers are redeemable at local Certified Farmers’ Markets, research in California exposed specific barriers to WIC participants utilizing this option. The foods that provided carbohydrates in my recorded daily intake included whole grain meal, cheese, yogurt, lettuce, and grapes. Some of these foods, particularly yogurt, meat and cheese, also provided me with lipids. In the intake record, there were also foods that provided me with carbohydrates. These included beef, turkey, beans, and chicken. I can say that the recorded carbohydrate, protein, and lipid intakes were sufficiently above the recommendations of the dietary reference intake.
