The skill application activity that I chose was to visit a physician and get a physical examination. Personal health is very important to me and would like to have control of my health. I have seen many people struggling with their health concerns. Having a healthy body will allow me deal with situational stressors like unfavourable conditions at work. People with personal health issues like overweight suffer from a lot of stress. They are discriminated and made fun at by their colleagues. They engage themselves in defence mechanism like aggression, regression, repression, withdrawal and fixation. These defence mechanisms are put into use by individuals who have no experience of managing stress. My decision to get a physical examination is to determine whether I might be suffering from stress given my lifestyle.
It will help me manage time stressors like work overload and lack of control. I am not a very outdoor person and do not engage in physical exercise a lot. Studies show that managing stress requires one to develop a winning strategy. Visiting a physician is the first step of my approach towards achieving the desired goal of healthy living. I am hoping to get resourceful advices from the doctor on how to handle the issues in question. It will provide guidelines that will enable me to provide solutions to stress problems that might be facing my parents and friends. They have a lot to deal with at work and home. The actions that I will undertake will be very helpful in achieving the set goals. It will help increase physical resilience through engaging in healthy eating and regular exercise.
Throughout this activity, I have achieved a lot. An example of the achievements made during exercise is the elimination of stressors at work. I have learnt to eliminate them by combining tasks, increasing personal authority in decision making and maintaining good working relationships with other employees. Another example of an accomplishment is being able to implement and maintain a regular program for physical fitness. Another achievement is control of a proper and healthy diet program in order to manage stress issues. Maintaining a healthy diet program calls for a lot of sacrifice and the desire to move on towards the desired objective of the activity. There are various ways of developing and maintaining a healthy diet. One of the ways that I have learned is eating a variety of foods and mostly whole foods. Reducing the intake of substance like alcohol, sugar, caffeine and sodium will support a healthy living. They are a catalyst to stress related to work. I have understood that eating should be viewed as, time to relax.
Most persons especially at work eat while they are still working. They do not create time to relax or do a couple of simple exercises. I have experienced a lot concerning the benefits of having regular physical exercise. Through the exercises, I have achieved and maintained an optimal weight. Another of the benefits that I have experienced is that my psychological well-being has been increased, and the cardiovascular system has also improved. One best example is learning that simple exercises can help in reducing temporary stress. These techniques include muscle relaxation, reframing, deep breathing, imagery and fantasy. The most relevant experience is the importance of time management. Redesigning my daily activities towards a responsible healthy life will be one of my core objectives in life.
