Women face a lot of challenges in bringing a balance between these two. However, she indicates that the educated women have observed higher levels of success in raising the children and managing their careers. However, there are some consequences associated with the same. The consequences might not be as good for the women to bear. First of all, there is the fact that their wages are cut. When the women take the maternity leave, it goes without saying that they are absented from work. This implies that they are considered to be less productive at the time and, therefore, cannot get the full benefits of an employee. This implies that their financial security is compromised. At other times, they are forced to be dependent on other people such as their spouses. This makes it quite hard for them. As such, it is arguable that even though the modern woman shows greater signs of success in managing the two, it still holds that they have to pay one way or another.
The hard economic times forced the women to follow their men and go into the workforce. It became apparent that if the women continued relying on men for support, the economic security of the society would be compromised. However, it is worth noting that while the women took up some of the roles that used to be played by men, they wee still left with the burden of child bearing. This is quiet stressing on them.
Distribution of family chores between amongst the family members can help women to be more successful at this. This would imply that since the woman does not have to do all the household chores, she can find time to pursue her career as well. Rather than being tied down within the home setting taking care of it, she can go out and seek out ways of improving her career as well. As such, it can be argued that the sharing of the household securities would spares the woman time during which she can engage in career advancement activities such as schooling, or even engaging in active participation of her career life.
Since the great depression, the societal trend in terms of child bearing has changed a lot. Women got involved in the labor force and have never ceased. Rather, they seek to assert their position more in the labor force and get even higher positions, something that they are already achieving. However, in order for the m to be that involved, it goes without saying that they have to compromise on other aspects of their lives. Most of them tend to reduce on the parity of the children they get. In relation to this, the child bearing trends have been on the downward trend. He argues that the Baby Boomers generation had a parity of approximately 3.1. However, their children’s generation cut done on the parity rates to about 1.9. This clearly indicates that the child bearing trend has been on the decline. Women want to get involved in their career lives and advance their position in the society. However, this implies that they go for higher education and get actively involved in the labor activities. Due to these processes, they bear children at an older age, and usually prefer to have one or two babies. This is a clear indication that for the women to get actively involved in the career life, they have to give up on some aspects of their lives. Child bearing seems to be the first consideration.
