The heart is a major body organ that pumps blood at a very high pressure to all parts of the body. The connection between the heart and the brain is vital because it brings about both personal and social coherence. The target audience is career men and women who are faced with day-to-day activities that may lead to stress. Lack of synchronisation in body systems is caused majorly by stress that leads to expression of negative emotions such as anger and anxiety. This greatly affects the performance of an individual.
Fatigue by definition is physical exhaustion because of hard work. It may also arise from emotional exhaustion from one’s daily work responsibilities or because of medical conditions. A major cause of the increasing rate of fatigue within important professions such as health care, law enforcement and teaching is stress as proven by the research and studies done by the HeartMath organisation. This affects the performance of an individual negatively because the heart is incoherent and it leads to negative emotions such as anger and anxiety (HeartMath). The heart incoherence can be controlled by focusing on the positive emotions.
Having a good, relationship starts within an individual between his mind and his heart. Personal coherence leads to social harmony and understanding (HeartMath, The Heart's Intuitive Intelligence). A healthy relationship with family and friends is an integral part of our lives. The emotional support acquired from members of the family and friends has a positive effect on our heart condition and thus the hormonal system. Studies show that this leads to low blood pressure and low cholesterol hence reducing mortality risk. When we lose or lack the emotional support from family and friends, we suffer more than we know. People who lack meaningful relationships face increased risk of mortality and are more likely to get a heart attack.
Anxiety affects performance negatively. This is because anxiety is caused by the pressure to do better either in school or at work, especially in the very competitive world and economy of today. This leads to disorganisation, expression of negative emotions such as anger, which affect the nervous system, failure and lack of self-esteem and confidence. Anxiety affects the communication skills of an individual leading to lack of understanding and hence poor performance.
It is often assumed that one cannot follow the decisions made from the heart because they are assumed to be the wrong decision. However, apart from the heart being affected by our emotions, is plays a very important part in decision-making. According to the findings of the research done, a person can make sound decisions when they are relaxed and have a regular heartbeat thus constant and sufficient blood flow and because the heart has its own intelligence (HeartMath). When an individual is clouded by negative emotions such as anger, they are bound to make the wrong decision since the heart is sending the wrong information to the brain thus incoherence.
As it has been observed from the findings of the research, stress greatly affects the performance of an individual negatively. However, stress can be done away with in many ways such as doing physical exercises, having enough rest and having nutritious meals. Reducing stress has so many benefits such as: having more energy thus improving performance, making sound decisions, low risk of having a heart attack, cognition, more rewarding life and resilience.
