The Chinese Sheng dynasty was rich in symbolism and artistic prowess even though it dates back to over 2000 BC. The bronze vessel shows some intricate design and is typical of the period from the ninth Century BC. The level of craftsmanship that is present shows that exalted persons and craftsmen such as priests could have been involved in their creation. However, there is very little information to back this up, and we do not know whether the workshops where they were made were organized. The content of the vessel demonstrates that it was not mass produced but was definitely created for one owner and is a limited edition piece. One can rule out mass production for this vase.
