Introduction
As engraved on the tombstone "A Soldier of the Revolution', Joseph Plumb Martin was indeed an ordinary soldier who died amidst poverty in 1850. He was an ordinary person who served bravely in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He is best known for his memoir titled 'A Narrative of Some of the Adventures, Dangers and Sufferings of a Revolutionary Soldier', which was first published anonymously in 1830.
