The scenario was an intricate one bearing in mind that the manager had his chosen employee to take one the role. However, the employee was tied up in a major project and decided to delegate the role to a fellow colleague. Some interesting concepts arose as the team went through the varying behavioral features of delegating. In order to delegate, it appears that the selection of the person to take up the role of working on the project is very crucial. It is crucial because it has to be a person who is conversant with the varying aspects connected with the project. As such, considering this point, it would be prudent to first evaluate the requested employee, Bill and see if he has the ability and experience of completing the job. In this case, as the manager has explained, Bill has the expertise to take on the role. Bill being the manager, he should succinctly explain to Bill the actual range of options. It is vital that Ricky will ensure that Bill understands the limitations and the extent to which he can undertake some options. Hence, Bill will have to know what he can and what he cannot do just in case there are delicate issues connected with the suppliers. It will also be important for Bill to clarify to clarify to Ricky that he can actually complete the task. It is essential to ensure there is communication that allows Bill to state his or her thoughts about the task. This way, Ricky will be sure he has done the right thing, and Bill will be assured that whatever approach he decide to use will be passed on to his superiors to do away with any misunderstandings. Once there is an agreement, Ricky will have to inform his boss that he has delegated the job to Bill through a well written report that explains why, to whom, and what has been delegated along with what shall be done. Finally, a timeline shall be set-up to ensure that Bill informs the manager of what has been done by what specific time. This will help in making sure that the deadline is met
