Roberto is one of the numerous victims of a mix of solutions. That is; he is characterized by different beliefs and thoughts which are directed by the different environmental factors engulfing him. Initially, he has a position of being a National Guard after recent calls for the deployment back in Iraq. He is a victim of factors that could either discourage or encourage someone in his or her career. However, this depends on the different avenues and angles from which the issues can be elaborated.
Initially, Roberto could have been motivated to work with the military. The reason behind this could not only be financial. However, it could also be geared towards the motivation of the society. He always wanted to serve in humanitarian positions. His efforts were based on serving the people for their good seems to uplift Roberto’s Will. The best theory to purport this is the Elton-Mayo theory (Miner, 2005). Ideally, the theory stipulates that one is not just motivated by money. However, he or she is motivated by the urge to fulfill social responsibilities.
Roberto is motivated and demotivated by what he goes through in his life. Theoretically, there are some motivational theories which could be useful in explaining the state at which Roberto is. An example of these theories is the Herzberg’s theory (Steel, 2006). Ideally, this theory makes an effort of factors that can influence or motivate someone to work under certain environments. On the other hand, the same theory provides for a situation where there is a reason for dissatisfaction on the same job. This is clear in Roberto’s case. The fact that he was facing a hard time with his unfaithful wife made him feel better after being deployed to the National Guard system. He must have thought that it is easy to work in the environment since his responsibility was closing down. In addition, he believed that the fact that he had few friends and family members, he was better off working as a guard.
However, the Roberto’s attitude towards military work deteriorates with time. Maslow’s Hierarchy theory is suitable for Roberto’s complex motivational deficiency. Ideally, Roberto is demotivated by the fact that whenever he goes to the over-sees, unfaithful wife does not take a chance to ask of him. He feels disappointed. The Maslow’s Hierarchy theory dictates the fact that must someone to take care of his or her social, psychological and esteem needs (Miner, 2005). He ought to take responsibility of his job and adopt the motivational factors. On the other hand, he should ensure that the demotivating factors are scattered to ensure that he takes his position in the deployment task towards Iraq.
It is feasible that the other soldiers might be psychologically affected by the sudden change of Roberto’s change and behaviors. It is critical to comprehend that the fellow soldiers have engulfed themselves with motivated hopes of succeeding in their mission. The fact that Roberto seems to back off from the mission is a loophole to the task they are almost undertaking. The soldiers have a responsibility to motivate their fellow soldier. The superior may not have succeeded in Taylors-ism since Roberto charges against the threats. The soldiers need to remind Roberto of the major objectives of engaging in the service. He can also practice humanitarian tasks. However, the most important issue is to motivate him with the fact that he can commence by ensuring the safety before being a humanitarian to the remnants.
