The gentleman made a better decision. Basically, the decision made is in line with the requirements of the job. The gentleman assessed the skills, abilities and behaviour and realized that the selected candidate would definitely fit with his company’s culture. He felt at ease with the candidate during the time of interview. The psychological testing proved that the candidate was generally fit for the job. Thus, besides the knowledge, experience and education, the gentlemen realized that the candidate must have organization skills, technical skills and communication skills which were pertinent in the organization.
The criteria considered by the gentleman in choosing the applicant were simply the assessment of behaviour, skills, abilities and the organization skills analysis. In particular, the candidate was supposed to careful, kind, thoughtful, polite and well groomed. These were basically the job specifications.
If I were the gentleman, I would consider such characteristics of the applicant. The performance of any organization begins with how better employees treat the customers. Such skills constitute organizational skills, communication skills, technical skills as well as well groomed the employee is. An employee who is not kind, polite nor thoughtful is a stumbling block to a company’s performance. However, besides the assessment of candidates’ abilities and skills, I would intensively assess the candidates’ knowledge about the job, experience, education as well as professional designation. Analysis of these is pertinent crucial for performance.
The employer interpreted recommendation as simply being a candidates’ behaviour. He valued the personal characteristics of the candidates. The competency of the candidates according to him was purely based on how the candidate portrayed his skills and abilities.
