Description of Classical conditioning and operant conditioning Classical and operant conditioning are two learning theories extensively studied in psychology. Classical conditioning involves a response to a certain stimulus. Reflexive responses are brought under control of stimulus actions that usually herald the response (Klein & Mowrer, 2009). A certain event provokes a response. A once neutral stimulus is matched with an unconditioned stimulus.
