Tell us about a time when you were part of a team, and there was a difference of opinion. What happened and what did you do? What was the outcome?
As the secretary at the regional nobility society for psychology at Psi Chi, there are a number of society based projects that I plan in each given fiscal year. For these projects to succeed, high levels of integrity are always expected at individual levels in handle finances and managing time so as to deliver the very best. I was in me dilemma when we planned a three day project in a soup kitchen at Baltimore when the field officer responsible for promulgating the project alongside the top management slashed the funds that had been budgeted for. This created a lot of mistrust between the field officer, the management and the staff which lead to cancellation of the program on the last day to the scheduled date.
My role in this situation was to mediate between the field officer and the management who were at wrangles and bring this to the notice of other staff members who felt demoralized and betrayed by a team they had trusted. I contravened a panel of four that comprised of two external auditors and an arbitrator. I was the chair of the team and had the relevant information that would be required being the secretary and the executive member at the same time. After rigorous auditing, it came to my notice that more than half of the budgeted funds could not be accounted for. With the help of the arbitrators, the management agreed to liars with the field officer to recover the money. I then gave a brief to the rest of the staff on the outcome of our investigations and the recommendation and agreement reached by both parties. I believe in a clear and transparent manner of handling issues that are related to finance and the skills on investigation and conflict resolution I gather from this experience, I believe would be relevant in monitoring company expenditures and in cases of misappropriation, an amicable manner of settling such would be suffice.
