Educational psychologists are concerned with understanding the factors that predict academic performance. Among others, self-regulated learning has been found to significantly predict academic performance. Self-regulated learners play an active role in the construction of knowledge, control, and regulation of their academic work. Currently, self-regulated learning is viewed as a process rather than a learner characteristic.
