Effective communication is sending a clear message that is similar in both verbal and nonverbal aspect. Communication is to ensure the volume and the tone used agrees with the subject of the message. It is also based on good listening skills, communication is message-sending, a receptive and expressive process (Pinto 2009). Problem on either or both ends can lead to failure in effective communication. This paper seeks discuss components of effects communications on both verbal and nonverbal how they can impact the final message on sender and receiver.
Verbal components include Active Listening skills which are very essential, block all distractions that hinder you from listening since, in order for communication to take place, both sender and receiver should understand one another. It involves putting aside owns thoughts and views, listen and summarize and maintain eye contact since it shows that one is interested in the message. Another key component is thinking the results of the message you are transmitting since the message can potentially drive the overall company goals, instead of writing or focusing on the employees' failure write the solutions.
Non-verbal components include structuring the message for the receiver. It is key since understanding is the goal of the communicating then leaders should create message a special meaning to the receiver. One cannot create a message that is good to them; we cannot think of what we want all the time but consider what the majority want. Avoid irrelevant information instead of writing information out of topic to relate to the other focus on the topic for the message to reach as it is intended.
Another verbal component is talking techniques while communicating verbally you should ensure to avoid talking negatively rather than create positive dialogue. It creates tension between colleagues at work when we focus on judging or blame them.
In conclusion, therefore, I would say for communication to take place one should be able to listen carefully in verbal and understand the information being passed. There should be a clear purpose of the message and the outcome of it reached. We should read the reactions of the message being passed through and adjusted any congruency in it and also prepare to read the feedback. References
