Change in the present society in the current business environment is very avoidable. Individuals and companies have a choice of either to be controlled by the change and react appropriately to the changes or play a proactive role in the change and manage it in such a way that the change can maximize there business benefit and reduce on the negative impacts that can arise for it. There are several way that an individual can react to change and benefit appropriately some of the way include.
One of the ways of managing change is by acknowledging that people do fear change as it “happens” to them. There is nothing more upsetting staff as change this change can cause a potential loss of production and failure. This calls for appropriate techniques to control the change and mange it. The management then should be able to identify the fear that its staff have pertaining the change and having a friendly approach to it creating a rapport that will aid in changing.
Another key way of managing change is by having a clear definition of the vision and of the end results this enables all the people to define the most efficient path to accomplishing the results. This calls for the leader of the organization to sit and note the points of difficulty of acceptance to change and in the long run involving all in the development of a strategy to approach the change but not bulldozing change into the individuals. (Sullivan, arthur; Steven M. Sheffrin 2003).
Finally by understanding the statement that man is a social being one will be able to understand an important principle of managing change, in order to change an individual ,one should change the system. To be able to accomplish this one must understand the every individual is shaped by the environment he or she is in. Therefore if the organization changes the environment he or she will be able to change the individual.
