Abstract The focus of the paper is to analyze the economics of US forests. In particular, the paper analyses the energy sufficiency, sustainability, as well as potential conflicts regarding this essential us natural resource. Concerning forest sustainability, the paper will consider issues such as how the US can use and retain forests to meet different human needs, how it can preserve and promote healthy forests, and how the country can make ethical choices concerning forests.
