World-wide, adoption has become a widely accepted alternative to birthing children. Throughout the United States, approximately 135,000 children are adopted each year (Claridge, 2014, p. 112). In every adoption case, an adoption triad is developed. This adoption triad consists of the adopted parents, the adopted child and the birth parents.
