The education system in America has over the years been faced with a recurrent and never ending problem that has compromised the quality of education and subsequently impact ted negatively on the future of the young generation. Teacher turnover is a problem that has remained persistent yet too little has been done to curb the ever rising rates of attrition. Motivation is an incredibly important factor in education; it plays a critical role in student learning. This motivation can be intrinsic; namely, the motivation comes from a student’s own desire to learn. However, two other major motivating factors for students include extrinsic motivation from parents and teachers. These outside forces place a great deal of pressure on these students, placing expectations on them to perform in a certain way. However, these expectations may have unknown effects on these students. Students from ages 5 to 7 are in the early stages of education, and so trends and expectations established ...
Discuss the role of the teacher and the learner in the selected lesson plans.
The role of the content-specific lesson plan is to get the student engaged in the scientific learning process. The objectives that are stated in the lesson plan are that the “The learner will state two critical attributes of liquids—taking the shape of containers and taking up space”—understanding these particular attributes of liquids is fundamentally important for the development of student understanding of the scientific process and of the properties of liquids as a type of matter (Appleton, 2006). Alternatively, the long-term objective of the role-play lesson plan is stated as, “The learner will participate in collaborative problem ...

The World Health Organization defines health promotion as the “process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health” (WHO, 2013). Throughout these past decades, the concept of health promotion has expanded from mainly focusing on lifestyles and the individuals towards taking into account socio-ecological factors including “economic inequalities, social problems, and environmental issues” (Rangruber, 2012, p. 36). With these changing perspectives, the role of nurses in health care has also expanded. WHO recognizes that nurses have an important role in the way society’s current challenges would be addressed (Linsley, Kane & Owen, 2011).

Part I: Mathematical Anxiety and Defining “Good Teaching”
Anxiety in mathematics is a long-studied field of educational psychology, and is a problem that has many suggested causes. To understand the issues that arise for many people when confronting mathematics, it is important first to understand what the psychological concept of “mathematical (math) anxiety” is. Math anxiety is a perceived notion, defined by Ashcraft and Kirk (2001) as: “a feeling of tension, apprehension, or fear that interferes with math performance” (Ashcraft and Kirk, 2001). Notably, math anxiety or math phobia is not an actual inability to do mathematics; it is the perceived inability to do mathematics. This observation ...

This article was updated 12th October, 2008 after being written by Blake Morrison and Brad Heath (2008). It highlights a toxic air phenomenon occurring in schools in an Ohio community. The reporter began by lamenting that the sounds of elementary school children chatter has been replaced by the air monitoring equipment at the Meredith Hitchens Elementary School in this Cincinnati suburb along the Ohio River. Further clarifications alluded to school officials three years ago removing students from the location after sample containing high chemical levels were found close to the ...

Technology Administration is an important aspect of any organization today. Over the past decade, institutions are increasingly focusing much attention on technology administration and delegating these responsibilities to professionals such as technology coordinators and administrators. Traditionally, these roles were handled by teachers who had little or no knowledge in technology administration (Hubbel, 2012). Information technology is becoming a key component in nearly all learning processes today and as such, more intricate IT processes are developed to aid the leading learning process. These processes require a dedicated team of professionals to help in the planning, implementation and adoption of these ...

The aim of education is clear – passing knowledge to the youth. Every day, year and century children go to school to learn new information – about nature, people, history and world in general. These aspects of learning are as important as science is, if not ...
Attitudes toward and opinions regarding stricter gun control laws in the United States seem to be growing following the dreadful reality of the recent Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting ("edition.cnn.com"). Argumentative Essay Elementary School Education's Quality Physical Education
Physical Education in elementary schools is an important aspect of development academically in terms of improving their grades and kids become more physically fit and active. Quality physical education program does not only promote a positive classroom behavior among students, but it also contributes to their cognitive development (Trost, Stewart G. Phd, 2007). When an elementary student is not physically well-rounded and fit at all times, it affects their academic performance, making them unable to cope up with the stress in school. Enhancing the elementary student's motor skills has an attribution for social development which ...
I have identified three ways in which the issue of the toys shipment can be resolved. I have indicated each of the alternatives below together with their impact on financial, legal, and ethical perspectives.
The company can decide to overlook the toy that has small traces of lead so that it can deliver the toys in time and avoid incurring losses associated with re- production and packaging. The process used to select such an alternative is cost- benefit analysis. The company may decide not to reproduce and repackage the toys since the cost would be higher than it would ...

Increased social problems have led to many cases that need to be addressed by psychologists. For instance, in schools there are increased cases of students’ violence that have caused riots and other social problems in schools. All these social problems are causing dilemmas among psychologists who are supposed to help in ...

I understand that being an elementary school teacher means becoming responsible for children’s upbringing. And I hope to be worth this mission. I will be responsible for the kids’ outlook on life and I want them to learn all the good things from me. I want to treat them like individuals, who, once having grown up, will be doing great things for the world, and hopefully will remember me as somebody who helped them become what they are.

According to Burns (99), learning is comparatively permanent change in behavior, whereby behavior is the observable activity as well as internal processes such as attitudes, thinking and emotions. Burns holds that learning may not show itself in observable behavior immediately the educational program has happened. Learning occurs in different settings such as at home, during play, at work or more commonly, at school. In formal settings, learning takes place in a classroom, library or laboratory. Teachers facilitate learning on different levels. On the other hand, apprenticeship is a combination of training on the job and related classroom instruction through ...

A. Brief Overview of “Is Hooking Up bad for Young Women?”
Several authors look at the sex culture in today’s youths in comparison to the baby boomers. Jessica Valenti(2010) for instance argues that the problem with America today is not the casual sex as it is not new but the moral panic that exists. The mass media has driven sociologists and psychologists to investigate young hookups even more closely. Statistics by CDC and the NHSLS show that young adults today are having far less sex than the baby boomers. Hookups are not free for all as portrayed by the media but is rather a safe manoeuvre by young ...

Despite the fact that in 1996, Supreme Court Justice Scalia called single-sex education in public schools “functionally dead,” Single-sex education has become an increasingly popular model in schools since the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 was passed. This federal legislation promoted innovative programs for states to implement that included single-sex classrooms and schools (U.S. Department of Education, 2006).
Within any educational setting there were many factors that impacted student achievement that related to boys’ and girls’ physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs. A single-sex environment provided boys and girls with a setting that promoted specific gender related ...

Should the US have stricter gun control laws?
Guns have a special place in American history and Americans have always had a love for firearms. This love affair for guns started in the seventeenth century, when the early settlers were required to carry gun to protect themselves from Indian attacks. The ‘Kentucky rifle’ of the 1700s, Samuel Colt of the nineteenth century and WWII veterans bringing home their enemy guns as trophies are all symbols of the proud American past. However, the spate of recent mass shootings has called for a stricter regulation of gun ownership and distribution. ...

Many mainstream therapies were once considered complementary until they were proven clinically effective through research. Although it has become a very emotive issue in the country, I would like to concur that gun possession is a lawful action which is protected in the constitution of the USA. The Second Amendment to the US Constitution clearly stipulates that individual US citizens are entitled to own guns to use for self-defense. Further, it states that under no circumstances should such a right be violated. This law was affirmed in the landmark ruling of District of Columbia v. Heller in 2008. This implies that it is a legal for the Americans to bear guns. After all, there ...

They feel recess is the primary cause of the poor performance that differentiates the united states from the rest of the first world. ...
