Both of my careers of interest involve psychological counseling. One would be serving as a school psychologist, and the other would be working in private practice as a psychologist. I am not interested in having the ability to prescribe medicines for my clients; although I realize that there are some mental conditions that are best remedies using prescriptions, in general I feel that these sorts of medicines are overprescribed, and I would prefer to treat patients through other means. For both of these positions, I would need to finish a B.S. in psychology and gain licensure, and to gain ...

As most people well know, times are getting tougher and holding down a job is getting even tougher. Sadly, a great many people are forced to apply for food stamps/welfare because of not being able to feed their families or not making enough to feed their families. Each year more than 10,000 people are forced on welfare because of not being able to keep a job let alone find an employer that’ll hire them for one. Unfortunately, common people are not the only ones to suffer from this pandemic outbreak; fresh out of college graduates are too. ...
Part I: Decision-making and Philosophy
Unemployment and the legislator’s decision regarding the unemployment benefits
Congressional republicans’ reluctance to extend the unemployment insurance, which led to its expiry on the 28 December last year, is cruel. The high unemployment rate caused by the 2008 recession prompted the government to expand the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program. The expansion was aimed at providing some income for the long-term unemployed persons who had already exhausted the usual 26 weeks of the period of state benefits. The program was extended for a period of up to 99 weeks whiles the federal and states also collaborated to ...

Since its inception, the management of FedEx has been focusing on provision of a suitable working environment, which encourages employees to come up with innovative solutions. There are both internal and external factors that can influence the day to day operations of FedEx. It is therefore, very necessary for the management and leadership of FedEx to negotiate with these factors in order to ensure that they are able function effectively. The external factors include government agencies, customers, the weather and the economy. Internal factors include management, stockholders/investors, and the employees (Barrett, 2003).

In the world today, there are several huge problems in the education world, and they are growing larger and larger by the year. One of these problems is bullying, and cyberbullying. This is a problem that seems to plague schools worldwide, and continues to be a prominent issue in the world today; there is little evidence that it is being effectively handled at this present time. However, there is another issue in the education world that is one of the largest, but seemingly ignored problems and that is a shortage of teachers. Interesting enough, it can be said that ...

Individuality or personality is something assessed or tested and illustrated daily. This interview protocol is designed keeping in view of the general questions that will be framed by a company. Each individual faces a different kind of interview, depending upon the field he is from. Also, there are some questions, which are general, and can be applied to all fields.
So, the team started up with general questions, and then went over to the career specific ones. The interview was with a female, working with Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor. The initial questions were about the position held by the candidate in the organization, need for communication skills in ...

Final Topic Paper – “I am Bartleby”
In light of the professor’s and group comments, I have made several changes to the paper. First, I removed all explicit mentions of schizophrenia in the work, as that would be ahistorical, and made arguments about Bartleby’s mental condition more even-handed. Most substantially, I have included more work throughout the text of the paper exploring Bartleby’s motivations for his actions throughout the story, focusing somewhat more on his frustration with the futility of capitalist society and its emphasis on hierarchical work structures. I have also completely changed the final paragraph to make it more of a ...

The Recession of 2008
Introduction
The recession that began in 20007 is apparently the most profound downturn that affected United States during the post-war era. Possibly, the part that was impacted the most consequent to this as recorded in history is apparently the labour market. This recession negatively affected the United States labour market a fact that was well evident from the sharp curtails in consumer spending. In a more in-depth and insightful way, this paper will explore and elaborate the impacts of the great recession that persisted from December 2007 to June 2009. Employee satisfaction, training and development, steadfast cultures and principles of a company, and value-added cooperate image. In addition, performance enhancements are other additional benefits that would be attributed to the department (Wilkie, Clayton, & Confederation College, ...

Labor Supply and Leisure choice are two tradeoffs or choices that a person has. The aggregate of these choices depends on the total labor supply for an economy. There are several factors that determine whether the people will choose to supply the labor hours to the business and the economy, or whether they will choose to take the time off in leisure. The more number of labor hours available to an economy leads to higher Gross Domestic Products and other better economic indicators such as GDP per Capital, National Income, and Balance of Payment. The benefits of having a college education are numerous; they range from cultural to financial. Education is regarded as an investment because education activities are expected to have effect upon future performance of those being taught, hence indirectly affect them in terms of their role in productivity and the economy. Therefore, education is a present investment, incurred for the sake of future satisfaction and joys. Personal education is linked to overall economic growth. If future economic development is vague, it can be difficult to persuade parents to allow children to pursue further education (Government reform on Higher Education, 213).

In general, an entry level accountant will need a bachelor’s degree, but more and more companies are asking for experience. So the problem for out-of-school college graduates is the onus to build experience even before they have landed their first job. According to Payscale, the median salary of an Accountant in the United States is $46,164. Note this is the median salary, so this means half of accountants make less than $46,164, and half of accountants make more than this amount. Geography certainly plays into the calibration of salary. According to the United States Department of ...

Developing and evaluation is a critical component/phase of the change program. The evaluation plan acts as the baseline upon which the objectives, variables and timelines are gauged to determine how well they suit the expected final outcomes. Thus since the evaluation plan acts as the guide to achieving the outcomes, the program designer must ensure that the evaluation plan can provide information that is relevant to the program. This then avoids the wastage of time by the program implementers on information and activities that have little or no significant impact on the final outcomes (Ma, 2000). The evaluation plan ...

Cotton, the American Civil War, an overspending khedive, the Suez canal construction, jockeying Europeans countries, and the cosmopolitan makeup of 19th century Egypt all play a part in the story. ...
Unemployment as an Economic Issue
Is unemployment a major economic issue in the world? And how does it affect economic performance? The percentage of unemployed individuals (who are searching for jobs and willing to work) in the total labor force is a key indicator of market performance for any country. There are negative impacts on the standard of living when a person loses a job or if not employed. Job losers (together with those eligible for unemployment benefits) may find themselves consuming much less than usual. They then end up draining their retirement savings so soon. In addition, prolonged unemployment usually leads to both ...

In the history of one’s adolescence, there is probably no more complicated and demanding question than the one about one’s choice of profession and career plans. Parents ask their children from an early age, what they would like to do and whom they would to be when they grow up. It does not mean that parents do not want their children to follow their dreams; they just try to adjust children’s dreams to the limitations of reality – competitive nature ...

Research in job satisfaction has been in existence for almost seven decades and most research in it was attempted to establish a link between employee attitude and the work results. Job satisfaction is considered as the key employee attitude which determines many organizational behaviors such as job performance, organizational commitment, employee turnover, absenteeism, etc. (Locke, 1976), and it is a complex issue which is still elusive to the practicing managers (who look forward to managing people effectively) . The concept is available for newer and diverse researches.
The concept of job satisfaction is central not only to psychological and managerial ...

In 1911, Fredrick Taylor published Principles of Scientific Management, and among other ideas contained in the book was the notion that employees could be understood through questions and answers. For example, question "How many times a minute should [a secretary] be able to open and close a file drawer?" Answer: "Exactly 25 times” (Cox, n.d.). The idea that employees could be measured became popular and gave rise to other studies designed to hire the perfect person for the job. This paper discusses the options of joining a graduate program, or taking up a job offer ...
