Two important aspects of reasoning are the usage of inferences and assumptions. An inference is a conclusion that is drawn (or made) from a combination of many factors. Many inferences -- or conclusions -- are drawn from underlying assumptions. Underlying assumptions are facts that are taken for granted, or presuppositions.
