Communication is a dynamic human activity that is defined and influenced by many factors. Interpersonal communication is especially influenced by the environment within which individuals live. As a consequence of the factors that inform interpersonal communication, there often arises conflict between different communicants. Depending on whether one comes from a culture that values independence or one in which interdependence is the norm, conflicts are resolved differently.
