Air travel has seen an increase in the number of people using it as the preferred means of movement across countries or continents. Over the years, there have been many changes in technical and tactical issues affecting the airports. The ability of an airport to adapt to the changing demands in the airline industry either renders it as a modern and suitable airport or an airport that is not a favorite of many people. Many factors can be used to consider the severity of an airport in terms of adapting to these ...
ABSTRACT
The Transport Security Administration (TSA) estimates that there are close to 1.8 million passengers passing through airports in the U.S. everyday. This makes airport security checks a vital part of security operations across the nation. The TSA oversees these operations under the directive of Homeland Security in collaboration with various airline companies to ensure optimal security for passengers and staff at airports. Several standardized security checks enhance security whist reducing crime rates in airports implemented by the TSA include use of Biometric Technology and Pre-Check programs. While these efforts are successful in reducing crime rates, there is little to ...

The position of the United Kingdom as a prime world aviation hub is at risk due to its ability to meet increasing capacity requirements. Heathrow is functioning at 98.5 per cent of its capacity and there is a substantial shortage of runways in the south east, indicating that the UK economy is at loss of nearly £1.2 billion a year to France, the Netherlands, and Germany. As experts confirm, adjusting and rearranging new schedules and altering flight slots will not resolve Heathrow’s shortage of capacity but neither will constructing a new multi runway hub airport within the Thames ...
In the aviation industry and indeed in the larger business context, systems and market dynamics have resulted into competition. The pressure for institutions, organizations and businesses to be efficient and competitive can be explained partly to emanate from globalization, improved infrastructure and the liberalization of markets in the world. Consequently, businesses have had to put their best in terms of efficiency in delivery of services and commodities. In the aviation industry, airports have had their fair share of the pressure. In reaction to the same, it has been incumbent on the airport management to ensure efficiency. In the quest ...

3.3.1 Hangars
Considering the moderate number of annual enplanements fit for a regional airport, Lafayette Regional Airport features relatively fewer aircrafts compared to international airports, henceforth requiring fewer hangars for aircrafts. Nevertheless, construction of hangars must stand as a priority measure for improving the security of aircrafts inside Lafayette Regional Airport. Securing aircrafts inside hangars is a major concern of Lafayette Regional Airport, particularly with regard to maintaining the number of annual enplanements. Any untoward damage to any aircraft inside Lafayette Regional Airport caused by the lack of proper hangars may affect annual enplanements. Fully equipping hangars ...
The air travel remains to be the most preferred means of transport in the world today. However, managing the operations in the air industry is one of the most challenging tasks given. It was in the year 1927 that the Pan American Airways’ executives made the decision of moving their company’s operations base to Miami from Key West. With the purpose of constructing an airport, they bought 116 acres of land, south of Miami Springs. The airport (now known as Miami International Airport) was built in 1928 as the first operational passenger facility in the United States of America. Similarly, Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport was opened in 1929. It was constructed over a deserted 9-hole golf course (Abravanel & Miller, 2012).

The Federal Aviation administration requirements for the development of strong sustainability plans in the airports in the United States of America caught enormous attention from the airports. The pilt program was scheduled to accommodate only 10 airports but with the number of interested parties increasing, the project took over 20 airports. Selected sustainability plans from the airports taking part in the program suggest that the pilot program in many of the airports took a similar shape while it slightly differed in some of the airports. Environmental conservation, economic development, involvement of staff in decision making and practical administration were ...

Airport Management and Improving Efficiency
Airports are like gateways of the modern world. The aviation industry has contributed in bringing the world together and enabling globalization to be effective in a major way. It is through the airplanes that people could travel long distances between countries quickly and with improved safety. Airports are where the airplane reaches and the passengers get down to get going to each of their works- either business or pleasure.
With the extent to which the air travel has expanded, it has resulted in the airports to become large and have to handle huge volumes ...

The importance of environmental concerns on the 21st century primarily lies on the lingering effects of climate change caused by unhealthy industrial practices. Aviation, in particular, is a heavily industrial field known for its various potential environmental effects, especially as its facilities emit greenhouse gasses. Therefore, unsustainably operated airports pose open risks to the environment, as their extensively industrialized nature cause air and water pollution to their immediate surroundings. Adverse environmental consequences arising from the operation of airports may become irreparable for the long term without the application of proper sustainability measures.

Analysis of the legal challenge to airport regulation restricting assembly
Introduction
Airport Authorities in the United States have always been engaged in legal disputes with citizens over the use of the airport facilities and the conflict such regulations pose with the rights of citizens. The analysis of the Bruce Rocker case attempts to grapple with this never ending conflict and the underlying legal issues usually at hand. The regulation by the Baltimore International Airport in this instance of restricting the assembly of more than 30 people if their business is not travel-related lays bare a number of issues that touch fundamentally on the rights of the citizens. In addition, ...
Introduction
The US Constitution guarantees many of the rights of the individual citizens. One of the rights guaranteed is the right to peaceably assemble. The Bill of Rights states in part that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or the free exercise thereof [] or the right of the people to peaceably assemble” (First Amendment [emphasis added]). The 14th Amendment, on the other hand, ensures that states enforce this guarantee and all other civil rights guaranteed under the Constitution. The core issue in the present study is the right of the fans of Big Bad Bruce to ...

In spite of the fact that significant milestones have been made in airline technology, cases of many commercial airlines landing on the wrong airports continue to be on the rise. Although cases of commercial aircraft landing on the wrong airfield are not very common, this does not imply that they are unheard of in the United States. Commercial flights in the United States landed or began to land erroneously in other airports several times in the last two decades. However, the actual figures could be higher than the ones reported by the media and the relevant authorities. There are ...
Cyber attacks: Costs and impacts
On the 11th of September, 2001, the canons of airport security was forever changed when a number of airplanes with innocent passengers were commandeered by extremists. Armed with nothing more than box cutters, these killers went on to redirect the planes from their original flight plans and careened them into some of the most iconic structures in the United States. As a result, airport and border security authorities stepped up airport and border security to meet the new threat.

Alan versus Chicago O’hare Airport
It is the duty of the management of the airport to make sure that the airport is free from objects that may cause harm to any person within the airport, including the passengers. For the case of Alan, he was late for his flight and decided to rush knowing that the airport was free from any hazards that could cause him any harm. This prompted him to run without being keen on where he was stepping. Unfortunately, he stepped on a banana peel, fell and got injured. The O’Hare Chicago airport management was negligent by not clearing the ...
One current event that affected airport operations was Hurricane Sandy in the month of October and November 2012. Flight cancellations amounted to over 19000 flights. Most of the major airports were closed for some time, and when they opened, they had limited service. Carriers such as the United, Delta, and American Airlines were forced to cancel flight departures in three airports, in New York (Fox News).
I do not agree with the statement that airport operators are responsible for traffic (passengers and cargo) handling services at North America airports. This is because an airport operator’s responsibility is to ...
Summary of the Article “Airport 95: Automated Baggage System"
The main research problem addressed in the article is to highlight the flaws in the automated baggage system at the Denver International Airport. The study aims to pilot a study to explore the effectiveness of programs of this nature in the software engineering community. In February 1985, the opening of the Denver International Airport was significant news simply because Denver International Airport was the biggest airport opened since Dallas/Fort Worth Airport was opened in 1975. The DIA project thus presented a classical example to study the maturity of Project Management skills because of its contemporary skills and the projects ...
The infamous terror attack of 9/11, 2011 dictated the federal government to rewrite airport security and freedom. The Federal Government assumed the responsibility of airport security by forming US Transportation Security Administration. According PBS (2011) civil liberty activists assert that the screening in the airports has changed thereby limiting the freedom of the passengers.
The airport guidelines obligate security personnel to limit the movement of non ticketed visitors beyond the airline gates (Bell, 2003). The name in the passenger’s ID must match the name on the ticket. It is a requirement that passengers must remove their shoes at ...

Even with the stricter security measures that have been put in place in the U.S. since September 11, 2011, a terrorist attack like that planned by Nizar Hindawi and the Syrian government against an El Al plane might have succeeded. He had been provided with a suitcase bomb containing Semtex, which was virtually undetectable by x-ray or other screening devices, and was using a ‘cut-out’ to actually carry the bomb aboard the plane, an accomplice who did not know she had a bomb and would have been killed with the rest of the passengers had it gone off.
