Introduction
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was comprehensive legislation prohibiting discrimination in both the private and public sectors. Title VII prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of “race, color, religion, sex, or national origin” and applies to employers with fifteen or more employees” (Civil Rights Act 1964).
